The Central Scrutinizer sings the last song on the album in his "regular voice", and joins in a long musical number with most of the other people that worked with Zappa around 1979. At the beginning of the album, in Act 1, we are introduced to "The Central Scrutinizer", the album's narrator, who brings us a "special presentation" on music's bad influences on man. We are introduced to Joe, the main character in the presentation. Joe used to be the lead singer in a garage band, which eventually broke up ("Joe's Garage").

Sea of Poppies (2008) is a novel by Indian novelist Amitav Ghosh which was shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize in 2008. It is the first volume of the Ibis trilogy. The second volume is River of Smoke. The main characters include Deeti, an ordinary village woman, an "octoroon" American sailor named Zachary Reid, an Indian rajah, zamindar called Neel Rattan Halder, and Benjamin Burnham, an evangelist opium trader. The story is set prior to the First Opium War, on the banks of the holy river Ganges and in Calcutta

Sea of Poppies is the first novel in the Ibis trilogy, created by author and historian Amitav Ghosh. The book takes place in India at the beginning of the opium trade What is a good quote about Kalua in Sea of Poppies? In my opinion, there is one quote that is a summation of the book as whole and rises over all of the others  . In Sea of Poppies, the author uses a postcolonial perspective overall in his examination of the impact of British imperialism on China and India Sea of Poppies is notable for its strong female characters, some of whom make decisions to defy social norms and take charge of their own situations.
