Trevor Pinnock recently recorded Handel's Fireworks Music in its original version for lots and lots of winds and percussion, but there's good reason to prefer this performance of Handel's alternate version, which includes string parts. Pinnock has always had a keen ear for Handelian pomp, and this version has just that extra bit of sparkle and brilliance. The coupled overtures make a welcome bonus.

In Handel's day, music was the main event at royal fireworks displays - especially since the pyrotechnics frequently failed to go off as planned. The English Concert deliver a raucous, festive interpretation on period instruments. The result is fantastically fun to listen to - this is how Handel's Fireworks music should always be played! takt1 GOLD. Georg Friedrich Händel. What can I listen to here? Product.
