For his 2007 action film, SHOOT 'EM UP, writer/director Michael Davis enlisted Austrian-born composer Paul Haslinger. An ex-member of Tangerine Dream, Haslinger contributes a score that perfectly reflects the movie's kinetic pace, as revealed on "Warehouse Shootout" and "Final Showdown. Bolstering many tracks are seasoned rock musicians, including bassist Justin Meldal-Johnsen and drummer Joey Waronker, former members of Beck's backing band.
Paul Haslinger (b. 11 December 1962) is an Austrian-born composer and musician currently based in Los Angeles, California. After studying classical music in Vienna, Austria, Haslinger joined the German electronic music group, Tangerine Dream in 1986. During the following 5 years he recorded a total of 15 albums with the group, participated in 4 international tours and collaborated on a number of soundtracks, including Miracle Mile, Near Dark, and Shy People. The soundtrack album for the Miramar release Canyon Dreams, earned Haslinger his first Grammy nomination in 1991
Shoot 'Em Up is a 2007 American action film written and directed by Michael Davis. The film follows Smith (Owen), a drifter who rescues a newborn from being killed by assassin Hertz (Giamatti) and his henchmen. Smith flees from the gang, enlisting the help of prostitute Donna Quintano (Bellucci) to keep the baby safe as he unravels the conspiracy.
