Pixel aspect ratio (often abbreviated PAR) is a mathematical ratio that describes how the width of a pixel in a digital image compares to the height of that pixel. Most digital imaging systems display an image as a grid of tiny, square pixels. However, some imaging systems, especially those that must be compatible with standard-definition television motion pictures, display an image as a grid of rectangular pixels, in which the pixel width and height are different.
Sometimes a job requires multiple outputs to different formats, so we thought it would be great to create a quick cheat sheet. CINEMA DCP 4k. Frame Aspect Ratio, Resolution (Square Pixels . ). Flat (. 5:1), 3996x2160. Scope (. 9:1), 4096x1716.

Where pixel aspect ratio comes in is that computer screens essentially have a different sampling rate. We say they have square pixels while DV video has non-square pixels. The upshot of it is that a DV image will look wider than it should on a computer monitor unless we use software to correct the display of it. If you keep the vertical dimension constant and just correct the horizontal dimension you would squeeze the image down to 65. x480. If, however, your final output is for computer monitor or data projector then you may want to render the movie as square pixels (. PAR)-assuming that the media player can't correct for the pixel aspect ratio. This is usually what you want to do. 2-Don't worry about the extra half a pixel. If you're just simulating square pixels then it doesn't much matter.
