The Hurting would be Tears for Fears’ most collaborative effort. Curt and Roland nearly equal each other in the lead vocal department with the opening title track featuring both as the frontmen. With each progressive album, TFF would become more and more Roland’s brainchild as he agonized over every nuance and dominated the microphone. I am hard pressed to think of any other band that featured one singer on every successful pop single, with resulting albums favoring the & singer.

Tears For Fears is one of my favourite bands and their debut album, "The Hurting", has a very powerful impact. If you can't believe me, just listen to the lyrics in this album  . 6 people found this helpful.

The album contains Tears For Fears’ first three hit singles: Mad World. And a new version of the band’s first single, Suffer The Children, which had originally been released in 1981. The song Mad World was famously covered by Gary Jules on the Donnie Darko soundtrack-a film that also featured an extended one take tracking shot scene scored to the Tears for Fears song Head Over Heels from the band’s second album Songs From the Big Chair. Tracklist: The Hurting.

Both members of Tears For Fears felt that their parents hadn’t, in the words of their hit Pale Shelter, given them love, they’d given them pale shelter. Smith and Orzabel both had good reason to feel this way. We both come from broken homes. With its raw emotion, catchy hooks, and unusual arrangements, The Hurting remains a classic. Writing for me, when I was a young boy was extremely personal, and now it’s not, he says. I think these feelings are more prevalent in your teenage years.

Tears for Fears – The Hurting. Is it an horrific dream Am I sinking fast Could a person be so mean As to laugh and laugh On my own Could you ease my load Could you see my Pain Could you please.
