A sun that never sets burns on New light is this river's dawn When to speak of a word so old Is to relearn what is known A time to think back and move on. A Sun That Never Sets is the seventh studio album from experimental/ post metal act Neurosis. Itīs a quite different album compared to their earlier releases and my first listens were not succesful. A Sun That Never Sets is a great album, though not what I would call a masterpiece. Lasting almost 70 minutes, it tends to drag a bit when listening to the entire album. Still, the album doesn't lack roughness, aggresion and slow, sludgy riffs.
A Sun That Never Sets is Neurosis’ seventh release, and this means automatically that either they have all the experience required to consolidate their sound, and make an album of what they know to do best. But what can you do when you offer distinct material every time you deliver a new observation". Well, this album is entertaining, what can I say. I haven’t listened to the post-metal bands I know in a while (you know, Isis, Pelican), so it’d be hard to put Neurosis into context.
