Parlour’s newest album, Simulacrenfield, continues the band’s exploration as a septet. Simulacrenfield is a dark and experimental album. Parlour uses woodwinds to offset post-rock guitars to create a sound that pushes the boundaries without overwhelming. With more guitar-heavy songs like Jalepenooptics and Destruction Paper, the band finds interesting ways to incorporate the clarinet and saxophone. But songs like Camus push the reed instruments to the front –floating around the other instruments

Parlour is a band that I wish appealed to me more. Begun back in the late 90s as a solo project for Tim Furnish, formerly of seminal Louisville acts Cerebellum and Crain, Parlour is very clearly a labor of love, the product of a working musician with a sincere desire to practice his craft. Camus 03. Jalepenooptics 04. Wedder 05. Simulacrenfield 06. Carrier 07. Sea of Bubbly Goo. More about: Parlour.

Parlour - Simulacrenfield (2010). Simulacrenfield rearranges the vision set forth in previous Parlour releases, utilizing the septet for all it's worth. no doubt partly contributed to the addition of Jon Cook (Crain, Rodan) on drums, and Breck Pipes (Cerebellum) on guitar.
