In 1920, the first Blues song was recorded by Mamie Smith, and when 'Crazy Blues' sold close to a million copies all the record companies looked for their own Blues Diva. This bargain, re-mastered double CD has his finest album, 'Big Bill's Blues' plus three more collections, totalling 45 tracks, which show the breadth of the man's talent.
King album is the quintessential blues album, Live at the Regal. The concert was recorded at the Regal Theater in Chicago and released in 1965. The reaction to this album was staggering and it is still highly regarded today; with good reason, because this is really a stellar collection of music. However, an album that was recorded just two years, Blues is King often gets overshadowed by its predecessor.

Statesboro Blues" is a Piedmont blues song written by Blind Willie McTell, who recorded it in 1928. The title refers to the town of Statesboro, Georgia. Taj Mahal recorded a popular blues rock adaptation of the song in 1968. His version inspired a recording by the Allman Brothers Band, which is ranked number nine on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the "100 Greatest Guitar Songs of All Time".
The is the Big Blues Band, horns, keyboards all live at the Town and Country Club, and I a cracking live set over the two discs. Recorded just after the 'Fat City' album hit the market many of the songs from it come in this set, several of the extra musicians here also performed on that album. Joining Paul Jones, Dave Kelly, Tom McGuinness, Gary Fletcher and Rob Townsend (yes ! still exactly the same line up as it is now).
