Philip John "Jon" Hiseman (21 June 1944 – 12 June 2018) was an English drummer, recording engineer, record producer, and music publisher. In the mid-1960s Hiseman played in sessions such as the early Arthur Brown single, "Devil's Grip". In 1966 he replaced Ginger Baker in the Graham Bond Organisation and also played for a brief spell with Georgie Fame and the Blue Flames. He then joined John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers in 1968 playing on the iconic album Bare Wires.

Jon Hiseman (born Philip John Hiseman, 21 June 1944 in Woolwich, London - 12 June 2018). In the mid-1960s Hiseman played in sessions such as the early Arthur Brown. In 1966 he replaced Ginger Baker in the Graham Bond Organization and joined John Mayall's Bluesbreakers the following year to record the album Bare Wires with that band. In 1968 he formed the "seminal" jazz rock/progressive rock band Colosseum Colosseum which split in 1971, and he later formed Colosseum II. Top Tracks.

Jon Hiseman - Colosseum THE KETTLE. Jon Hiseman would be largely unknown quantity to Americans. His fame resides in Europe as he only managed a couple of brief tours of the US in the early ‘70s. For Americans his most prominent appearances were on John Mayall’s ‘Bare Wires’ and Jack Bruce’s classic ‘Songs for a Tailor’. Jon is a jazz drummer through and through who, like Baker, found the UK jazz scene to be too restrictive. layers of drum kit not technically perfectly enmeshed but adding a sense of glorious brinkmanship that is the hallmark of all great rhythm artists. Jon Hiseman and Ginger Baker both adjusted their styles, absorbing new influences. For Baker it was the African rhythms, for Hiseman soul/funk.

The Jon Hiseman drum solos album – recorded during live performances with the United Jazz and Rock Ensemble and Paraphernalia during 1985. Released on CD in 1991 with an extra drum solo, several famous people are known to do the washing-up to this album. Says Jon: it’s excellent for parties when you want people to leave. The group made an album, Heroes, that contained music written by former collaborators Hiseman had outlived, among them Jack Bruce, Allan Holdsworth, Dick Heckstall-Smith, Graham Bond and Ollie Halsall. Ironically, the album will become a tribute to Hiseman himself. JCM began a tour in April, but cancelled it as the brain tumor advanced. About Time Too!-Drum Solo. The Last Fandango is the new studio album (2015) from Barbara Thompson and Paraphernalia. It features Billy Thompson (vln), Peter Lemer (keys) Dave Ball (bs gtr) and Jon Hiseman(drms), the same musicians who performed in Stuttgart for the highly successful 'Paraphernalia Live 05 DV.
