Billy Reynolds Eustis was born in Harden City, Oklahoma and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He graduated Tulsa Central High School same year as Leon Russell (Russell Bridges) and J. J. Cale. His first recording was Cherry Pie in 1957 with Bill Ragan and Chuck Fornier as the Tri Lads. Billy then went on to a solo career. His first solo was The Rope, produced by Sonny Thompson and recorded at the famous Chess Studios in Chicago. Billy went on to record for Famous Music (Bobby Boyd, producer), Paramount (Marty Paich, producer) and Monument Records (as Billy Reynolds, Don Law, producer)

Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid is the 12th studio album and first soundtrack album by American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan, released on July 13, 1973 by Columbia Records for the Sam Peckinpah film, Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid. Dylan himself appeared in the film as the character "Alias".
