Since its formation the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra has concentrated on two thematic focal points. On the one hand, with its exemplary interpretations it fosters the great classic and romantic repertoire of the symphonic tradition; on the other, the RSO is also a leading promoter of contemporary music. Today the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra's Permanent Guest Conductors are Andrey Boreyko and Péter Eötvös.

Schumann: Manfred - Delius: Sea Drift & Concert Overtures. Carl Schuricht (1880-1967) was a conductor born in Danzig (Gdansk). He invented a clear, almost objective style of conducting, based on fast tempos and flexible, but cleanly articulated orchestral playing that became known over. Many modern conductors owe a lot to him. Carl Schuricht was nominated the director of the Berliner Philharmonischer Chor in 1933.
