United Abominations is the eleventh studio album by American thrash metal band Megadeth. Released on May 15, 2007, United Abominations is the first Megadeth release distributed through Roadrunner Records and, with the exception of the band's frontman Dave Mustaine, was recorded with an all-new line-up. While touring to promote the album, guitarist Glen Drover left the band for personal reasons and was replaced by Chris Broderick, leaving this as the only Megadeth studio album to which he contributed.
United Abominations, an album that could have never existed, if Dave decided against bringing the band back together, is Megadeth's first Roadrunner release, as well as their first with the new semi-stable lineup. Before I get started, I should say that I'm gonna be looking at the bonus tracks as well as the official album. In fact, the bonus tracks could probably have been better suited as actual songs on this album, but I'll get to that later. Anyway, United Abominations is a bit of a departure from its preceding album, The System Has Failed, in a number of ways
Album · 2007 · 11 Songs. If metal is anything, it’s a forceful raging against the powers that be, and Megadeth’s United Abominations, with its hyperfocused cohesion ( Sleepwalker ) and the driving, layered thrash glory heard on the title track, is a wholly powerful force. Indeed, on this, one of their more political albums (and that’s saying something), Megadeth want to hold the world responsible for its atrocities ( Gears of War ) the best way they know how: with decimating riffs and towering beats. United Abominations Megadeth.
Following on from 2004’s triumphant return from hiatus (actually, retirement, to be precise), Megadeth’s 2007 album, ‘United Abominations’ sees the band continue along with a renewed vigour, as Dave Mustaine and a fresh line-up charges on with the thrash metal sound of old, proving that Megadeth can still maintain relevance in the new millennium.
