Black Star is an American hip hop duo formed in 1997, from Brooklyn, New York City, New York. The duo is composed of rappers Yasiin Bey (Mos Def) and Talib Kweli. They released a number of singles and one album, Mos Def & Talib Kweli Are Black Star on September 29, 1998. The record received critical acclaim, but only moderate commercial success. Since then the duo has worked together intermittently on soundtracks and other projects.

Black Star or Blackstar may refer to: Black star (semiclassical gravity), a theoretical star built using semiclassical gravity as an alternative to a black hole. Saturn, referred to as "Black Star" in ancient Judaeic belief. Blackstar (novel), a 2013 novel by Josh Viola, based on the album Wish Upon a Blackstar by Celldweller. Blackstar, a character from Erin Hunter's Warriors series. The Black Star, a fantasy novel by Lin Carter. Black Star (character), the name of four different DC Comics supervillains.

Artists managed by Black Star Inc. have gone on to huge success and popularity; for example, Egor Kreed is considered to be the Russian ‘Justin Timberlake’. However, Kreed has already left the label (and faces a conflict with Black Star, which owns his stage name, and so he can no longer use it). Other popular musicians managed by Timati’s company include rappers L’One, Mot, Natan, Doni, and Scroodgee. Next, he started his own clothing line - Black Star by TIMATI. Vladimir Putin poses for a photo with rapper Timati during a meeting with his presidential elections campaign activists in Moscow.

It is really hard for me to find any weak spots on this album, because it’s a nearly flawless recording. I guess if one had to get picky they could argue that there are only eleven full tracks, but this makes it easier to listen through as well as to pay attention to individual tracks. Some may also find the track B Boys Will B Boys too crazy and old-school to be taken as seriously as the rest of the album. I honestly didn’t think I would enjoy this as much as I did. I’m a huge fan of Mos Def and Talib Kweli, but this is truly the best of both MCs. It may lack the raw emotion of classics such.
