The White Stripes is the debut studio album by American alternative rock duo The White Stripes, released on June 15, 1999. White dedicated the album to deceased blues musician Son House. Johnny Walker of the Soledad Brothers played slide guitar on two songs: "Suzy Lee" and "I Fought Piranhas"

The first session was recorded by Tomorrow on 21 September 1967, and the last by Skimmer on 21 October 2004. After Skimmer's session, three further sessions that had already been booked before Peel's death were recorded: Bloc Party on 4 November, 65daysofstatic on 18 November and Sunn O))) on 9 December.

The sessions, which have been widely bootlegged since their original broadcast, boast selections from White Blood Cells, the group’s self-titled debut and 2000’s De Stijl. They also feature an assortment of covers including Dolly Parton’s Jolene, Gene Vincent’s Baby Blue and the MC5’s Looking at You.
