^Abba-esque: The Remixes} only confirms this connection. The original EP was already club-oriented, but these four remixes brings the club dimension to the forefront, and the results are every bit as giddily intoxicating as the original. Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide.

Abba-esque is an EP by the British pop duo Erasure. Released in 1992, it was their first and only number one on the UK Singles Chart. As big fans of the Swedish group ABBA, Erasure (Vince Clarke and Andy Bell) had often performed ABBA songs in concert over the years. They had originally planned to release an album of ABBA covers, but instead opted to release an EP of four of ABBA's best known hits.

Talk about Erasure - Abba-Esque (The Remixes)

When this was released it was shipped with a 12 page MUTE catalog called MUTE/DOCUMENTARY EVIDENCE 7.
The Phil Kelsey remix of Take A Chance On Me still holds up today. It is let down unfortunately by the MC Kinky rap which luckily does not play for long. Good bass, nice chords and a nice long ambient breakdown which never goes amiss! Worth checking out. I cannot honestly remember the last time I played the other tracks. Maybe 1992?
