Robert Steven Moore (born January 18, 1952), also known as R. Stevie Moore or RSM, is an American t, singer, and songwriter who pioneered lo-fi/DIY music. Often called the "godfather of home recording", he is one of the most recognized artists of the cassette underground, and his influence is particularly felt in the bedroom and hypnagogic pop artists of the post-millennium.

Moore was an early adopter of recording music at home using a makeshift studio, yet he's had enough experience in professional recording environments that they don't stifle his musical thinking. As a consequence, the tunes on Afterlife have much of the same playful, anything-goes pure-pop charm of Moore's endless supply of lo-fi home recordings, but with improved fidelity and production that makes the most of his gift for crafting delicious if slightly eccentric pop melodies.

Stevie Moore is a pioneer of home recording, a do-it-yourself musical aesthetic that took root and blossomed in the 1970s. RSM was an early adopter - since 1968 he's cranked out hundreds of album-length recordings as a growing cult discovered him over the decades. He's a pop craftsman who never feared cheap technology. In the 2000s his catalog exploded across the internet, and while he remains a cultural outlier, future generations will discover him as well. Every once in a while Stevie enters a pro recording studio and produces tracks with better fidelity. Afterlife is like a "Greatest Hits" of R. I have many of his CDs, but there are some songs here that I have never heard before.

Mostly new studio takes of songs from various previous releases, so nothing new or exciting unless you're into high-production value R. Stevie Moore; and, what fans of his are? 1. 2mo. TheRootBoy. 73. Quirky and not a whole lot I can think to describe it.

Since R. Stevie can't make a decent living on his music, he's trying to accomplish the task in the Afterlife. This album is an upgrade from the lo-fi, damaged-equipment home recording process for which RSM has become legendary. With a career-long sweep, R. Stevie took some of his best home-recorded lo-fi songs and re-recorded them with full-studio sparkle. All recordings were made in the past 15 years, with tracks captured in five . Some compositions date from the 1970s to the 1990s, and there's a few newer tunes. The album lacks one thing: filler.
