There's a log floating by in the river beside the tree that stands alone As I lay on my back and I listen to the birds above With the sun shining down across my face You know I really wouldn't care if I never went home 'cos this is the place I love. CHORUS: You know I really like to come here You know I really like to stay You know I really like to spend some time alone You know I really like to come here You know I really like to stay I've let the bus pass, I'm not going home.

Splinter were a two-man vocal group from South Shields, England, consisting of Bill Elliott (William Elliott) and Bobby Purvis (Robert J Purvis), who formed in the early 1970s. They were connected with ex-Beatle George Harrison, and had groups of instrumentalists to back them on each album. Splinter was the first act signed to Harrison's Dark Horse Records label, when it was partnered with A&M Records.

The Place I Love is the debut album by English vocal duo Splinter, released on Dark Horse Records in September 1974. It was the first album released by the Dark Horse label, which was owned by George Harrison, who also produced the album. Recording sessions took place at Harrison's Friar Park home studio in Oxfordshire and featured extensive musical contributions from Harrison, on guitar, keyboards and other instruments, as well as participants such as Gary Wright, Billy Preston, Jim Keltner and Alvin Lee.

In 1999, The Place I Love was reissued as a bootleg CD-R with a bonus track, the ethereal "Lonely Man," off of the group's second album, Harder to Live, which features even better singing than anything on The Place I Love and also includes Harrison on guitar.

Great album that every Harrison fan should own! I first heard some of these songs over stadium PA during George's Dark Horse tour in 1974. 3 people found this helpful. NME critic Bob Woffinden described "Costafine Town" as a "very promising beginning" for both Splinter and the new record label. The album was played before many of Harrison and Shankar's North American shows in November and December.

Splinter – The Place I Love. Posted on August 15, 2016 by beatlesblogger. One of our favourite places in Sydney to crate dig is Revolve Records and Relics, and it has come up with another Beatle-related treasure for the collection. Splinter was one of the first bands signed to George Harrison’s Dark Horse record label in 1974, and The Place I Love was their debut album: They were a two-man band hailing from the town of South Shields in England.

The Place I Love Greyscale 2017. Sort: Recent best-seller Results cached. Listening to Dreamers I am delighted about the skills of the musicians, the modern and professional sound and the elements dynamics and adventure in their music.
