I Can't Explain" is a song by the English rock band the Who, written by Pete Townshend, and produced by Shel Talmy. The song was issued as a single on 15 January 1965 in the United Kingdom and December 1964 in the United States. There was a misprinted label re-released in 1968 on the second color band series label entitled "Can't Explain" but it was soon withdrawn and released with the correct title of the song as released on the first 1964 release, and other previous and future label releases.

The Who are an English rock band formed in 1964. Their classic line-up consisted of lead singer Roger Daltrey, guitarist and singer Pete Townshend, bass guitarist John Entwistle, and drummer Keith Moon. They are considered one of the most influential rock bands of the 20th century, selling over 100 million records worldwide and holding a reputation for their live shows and studio work. The Who developed from an earlier group, the Detours, and established themselves as part of the pop art and mod movements, featuring auto-destructive art by destroying guitars and drums on stage.

Talk about The Who - I Can't Explain

Mamuro
This promo was issued with Pete Townshend's name both spelled correctly and incorrectly. One version has no "h" in "Townshend" and the other does. (See pictures above.)
Manesenci
My copy is the no "h" version, and is identified as a Gloversville, NY pressing (clover)Can anyone verify the with "h" version identified as a Pickneyville, IL pressing (diamond)?
Celace
this is the second pressing of the i cant explain who 45 released by festival records in australia back in 1967 aprrox 18 months after the first pressing on the same label of this single, this comes in a regular festival company sleeve................
GEL
My promo copy was issued with the Sample Record - Not For Sale - Immediate release- stamp on Bald Headed Woman
Quphagie
Regardless of the matrix numbers, "I Can't Explain" is surely the A side.
Rarranere
this was another really nice danish sleeve released in denmark only in late 1965, the record was pressed in germany and the sleeve was pressed in denmark, this was unique to denmark only ( the sleeve that is) and the record was exported to denmark via germany like most 60s who sleeves where up to around 1968...........
Steelcaster
Beware, twice I bought what I thought was the "Can't Explain" single under this listing, only to receive "I Can't Explain" instead. Always ask for a picture of the label first. Eventually I was able to obtain an excellent legitimate copy here at Discogs.
Risky Strong Dromedary
i was lucky enough to find a mint copy of this with the original decca company sleeve, this was THE FIRST WHO 45 RELEASED IN THE US ON DECCA in 1965, this was the first of many who 45s released on decca from 1965 through 1972.......................
Ance
this one is a very nice italian sleeve on the decca american series that was released in italy in late 1965, this is by far one of the nicest sleeves out of italy, bald headed woman was the common a side to the i cant explain singe released in other european markets during its first pressings in late 1965 and early 1966......

I have a version of this single with older MCA black labels and a "©1973" date on the edge instead of the blue labels and "©1980" as shown here. Same catalog #'s so clearly it is a reissue as well. But this entry is clearly a 2nd reissue and mine is a 1st reissue.
