He went on to state that the band was falling apart, and asked it I would like a track by a new project. I of course accepted this. The resulting track is one of only two tracks by this project to surface, the other being a companion piece to this one release on a split single with . on the Belgian Electrip label. The album was compiled from November 1998 through July 1991, and not finally released until December 1991. Certainly a very long process and much longer than I had wanted it to be. It could not have been released without the financial help of Chuck Collison, who loaned me a good deal of the money I needed to get the record out.

Oracular Spectacular is the debut album by American band MGMT, released on October 2, 2007 by RED Ink and physically on January 22, 2008 by Columbia. It was produced by Dave Fridmann and is the band's first release of new content, being recorded from March to April 2007. Promotion for the album started as early as June 2007, when the song "Weekend Wars" was given away in summer issues of free monthly magazine Nöjesguiden in Stockholm, Sweden

Columbia returned with Dave Fridmann, the producer extraordinaire best known for his work with Flaming Lips and Mercury Rev. In typical Fridmann fashion, Oracular Spectacular is a glamorous mega-production through and through. Drums are massively distorted and shimmering keyboards are articulately layered as he takes the reins, leading the duo through his daisy chain of onboard compressors, delay.

Oracular Spectacular is an album that may not please everyone, but is still worth a listen. As others have mentioned, the sound quality of Oracular Spectacular is pretty bad; there is over-compression galore. This was MGMT's intention, for better or for worse.
