Boys Don't Cry soundtrack from 1999, composed by Various Artists. Released by Koch in 1999 (KOC-CD-8078) containing music from Boys Don't Cry (1999). If you haven't seen Boys Don't Cry, go now. Director Kimberly Peirce handles the emotional, visual and sonic with a deft hand. She is most definitely a 'musical' director. So, when I saw her name listed as one of the soundtrack's producer's, I knew I would not be disappointed. But Steve Earle country isn't the 'look at my belly button while you listen to my shlock music' country of Shania Twain or the 'I'll show you my full lips so you don't notice how thin my music is' country of Faith Hill and their ilk. It's the sort of country sensibility that comes from somewhere way down deep. It's written and sung from the heart it just comes out a little bit country. Or a lot. It doesn't matter. It's just good music.

The Rocker: Music from the Motion Picture is a soundtrack album from the 2008 film The Rocker starring Rainn Wilson, Christina Applegate, Teddy Geiger, Josh Gad, Emma Stone, and Jane Lynch. The music was mainly composed and performed by musician and producer Chad Fischer, also known as frontman of the band Lazlo Bane. The official soundtrack for the film features all original songs performed by the fictional bands .

Indeed, the soundtrack from the motion picture Malcolm X achieves its goal in capturing the music of the great Muslim leader's childhood and adult years. But lacking from the soundtrack is Sam Cooke's beautifully orchestrated song "A Change is Gonna Come," an inspirational civil rights anthem that is featured near the end of director Spike Lee's masterpiece but for some reason is not on the CD.

Altogether, this is a pretty good album that may not live up to the standards set by the little-heard Faust soundtrack album, but still delivers enough good music to please pickier fans of the genre.
