This song is by Lene Lovich and appears on the album Flex (1979). I know they'll see me throughThe angels watch my every move. Confused and lost, like there's no way outTill I see a light, shining from aboveSo I raise my head, to salute the skyAnd I feel that light, take my spirt high.
Lene's third album No Man's Land was severely delayed by an unethused Stiff Records. Lacking a release to promote, Lene co-wrote and played the title role in a musical about the life of Mata Hari, which received glowing notices and enjoyed a sell out run at the London Lyric Hammersmith. The long delayed album was remixed and given a grudging release by Stiff in November 1982, owing to the positive press for Mata Hari, and pressure from Lene's US label Epic. The iconic Lene Lovich defined a sound and style that is cleraly her own. Starting in 1979 with the hit single "Lucky Number", Lene helped usher in and define the "new wave" era. Lene's melding of funk, punk, new wave, cabaret and her infectous lyrics are captured on this DVD recorded live in New York in 1981. This is Lene Lovich at her best, featuring some of her biggest hits "Lucky Number", "New Toy" and more.
