Willard Grant Conspiracy (WGC) was an alt-country band based originally in Boston, Massachusetts and later near Palmdale, California, . The band operated as a collective, with vocalist and songwriter Robert Fisher the only permanent member throughout its existence. Fisher's voice and Americana style have been compared to both John Cale and Johnny Cash, with most songs being acoustic.

The first thing that struck me about Willard Grant Conspiracy was Robert's voice. Bold and commanding but also nuanced, wise and at times (even for all its power) strangely vulnerable. You could sense that he could give you the histrionics all night long if he chose to - he certainly had the power to do it - but of course that wasn't his thing.

Willard Grant Conspiracy, sometimes known simply as WGC, has a genre of that has always been different than others, often described as country tainted with blues and punk. Robert Fisher was a self-taught musician who followed his instincts-the main reason his music has such a unique sound. Various production companies, including Loose Music and Rykodisc, as well as Glitterhouse Records, Slow River Records, and Kimchee Records all signed record deals with Willard Grant Conspiracy. This band had great success from the moment it was founded in 1995 to their last year of existence in 2016.
