Street Hassle" is a song recorded by Lou Reed for his 1978 album of the same name. It is 10 minutes and 56 seconds long and divided into three distinct sections: "Waltzing Matilda," "Street Hassle," and "Slipaway. Part one, "Waltzing Matilda," describes a woman picking up and paying a male prostitute. In Part Two, "Street Hassle," a drug dealer speaks at length about the death of a woman in his apartment to her companion

Street Hassle Lyrics. Part A: Waltzing Matilda. And cascading slowly, he lifted her wholly and boldly Out of this world And despite people's derision proved to be more than diversion And sha la la la la later on. And then sha la la la la la He entered her slowly and showed her where he was coming from And then sha la la la la he made love to her gently It was like she'd never ever come And then sha la la la la, sha la la la la When the sun rose and he. made to leave You know sha la la la la, sha la la la la Neither one regretted a thing. Part B: Street Hassle

Reed considered the Street Hassle album a continuation of his work with the Velvet Underground. It's the album everybody had given up on me ever doing," he said. Simple Minds recorded this for their 1984 album Sparkle In The Rain. We loved the street poetry of Lou Reed," their frontman Jim Kerr said. Simple Minds worked in the light, but The Velvet Underground certainly worked in the dark. You need night as well as day, and their music was of the seamier side of life, although there was still tremendous heart in i.
