Charlie Feathers had almost everything going for him musically. He had a distinctive voice, good for both country and rockabilly, played good rhythm guitar, and a great lead guitarist in Jerry Hoffmann (check out the instrumental break on ONE HAND LOOSE, it's pure genius). Personally, he seems to have alienated everybody in sight. Sam Phillips didn't give him much of a chance, and it seems likely this was because he was difficult in the studio and impatient to the nth degree. Hoffman objected to Charlie's jumping to Meteor when he still had a chance with Sun, and rightly though. I can't get enough of Mac Curtis and Charlie Feathers. This album is a must for Rock-A-Billy fans. Well worth the money and worth a long listen over and over. The Mean Eyed Cat. KNON 8. Dallas, Texas.
