I've only recently discovered the music of jazz organist Charles Earland, but I'm hooked! Almost on a whim I tried "Black Talk!" and totally loved its addictive soul-jazz grooves. That led to getting "Intensity" and then his live album. Once again, very hot stuff. In fact, listening to much of this album, you'd be hard-pressed to call it a Charles Earland solo album with so much great horn playing, not only Joe Henderson on tenor sax and Freddie Hubbard on trumpet and flugelhorn, but another jazz vet, Eddie Henderson, pops up to play trumpet on four tracks. But rest assured that Earland is still playing up a storm on organ, particularly on "Warp Factor 9", "Van Jay" and the album's stunning closing song, "Never Ending Melody.
