Three Portuguese musicians, guitarists Martinho D’Assunção and Jorge Fontes and accordionist Fernando Ribeiro, are featured in this collection of traditional Portuguese music. D’Assunção opens the recording with his guitar quartet of Portuguese and Spanish (viola) guitars. Fontes, perhaps Portugual’s best known traditional guitarist, performs with a trio of Portuguese guitars. The second half of the recording features accordionist Ribeiro and his ensemble playing a mix of fados and folk dance music.
