Mike Dearborn ‎– Moments. Bird on E is the clear classic here. But this is a good album altogether. Don't overlook the title track for big floor filling techno with a nice melodic edge, a bit of acid and crazy 909 action. Move" (Hardfloor remix) was the popular floorfiller, but "Birds on E" is the evil ofer mindbomb. Dated now but experiments like this are not made anymore which is too bad. 답글 답글 1개 보기 나에게 알림 1 Helpful.

Talk about Mike Dearborn - Birds On E (The Remixes)

Marige
I will probably never remember the first time I heard Birds On E get dropped, but I can tell you all about the last. It was in Amsterdam, end of December 2013, at the Gashouder, for the special Awakenings 1997-2001 event. The line up included, believe it or not: Joey Beltram, Billy Nasty, Jeff Mills, Luke Slater, Regis and Mike Dearborn to rounds things off. Greats only. Proven legends. Cream of the crop.Basically, by the time Mike got on stage, the pantheon train had basically (short of one guy) already left the station. You can imagine the sets, and the wicked track lists, that these expert DJs brought along. Awesome performances all night long. Awesome being an understatement. So Mike Dearborn is there doing his thing, and around eight AM, decides to go for it. Birds On E. The place was expectedly rowdy and wilding out in tune with the mind blowing performances, but in this particular moment, closing in on the party's final thirty minutes, the venue toppled over. The excitement, the euphoria, the crowd reaction...The reason I am saying this is: just look at the names on the list who got up there before Mike. They all have enough classic material to cover six city blocks in Berlin. But when Birds On E came on, when you thought there wasn't enough strength left, the entire crowd proves you wrong. People went nuts. I mean sunstroke level mayhem. The only other moment that could live up to this one was when Joey Beltram dropped Energy Flash. The point is? Old tune? Perhaps. A product of its era? Arguable. A classic? Far beyond that. At that point, we were eighteen years into its orignal release date, and the crowd lost their minds to it like it was the hottest tune of tomorrow. That right there is what this track means to the legacy of Chicago and electronic music. It gave an already outerworldly event an unforgettable time capsule episode, a flash of an instant when you thought the best had already gone off. Naturally, I was expecting of him to grace us with the track, but the way in which it, in all fairness, simply won everyone over in a jiffy was superb. You are playing after the genre's greats, you have a chip on your shoulder man. When in a magical move that pays off, when the crowd shows you that the biggest one is still in front of them, the chemistry was simply unique. After his performance was over, I remember Mike Dearborn was standing behind the decks, tossing some records into the crowd to give the visitors some nice memorabilia. A wonderful ending to a lovely performance at an already special occassion with a star-studded lineup.Birds On E here is to another many years, as many as you could possibly wish for because the clock apparently stops when you hit the decks. As far as I am concerned, this is in the all time top ten acid tracks. Past, present or future.
