I am a enthousiastic collector, and have almost all the Time Life rock n roll stuff, as well as Eric Records cds of this era. Although they are essential to any 50s 60s collection, nothing can top ACE series.

Innocent Sweet Celebratory. Golden Age of American Rock 'n' Roll, Vol. 4 is another reliably well-packaged collection of major and minor pre-Beatles rock hits. the classic R&B/jump rocker "Linda Lu"). The further the series goes,.
By 1958 rock'n'roll reached the UK. But it was Cliff Richard and Marty Wilde, not Elvis Presley and Dion & the Belmonts. By 1956 there were hundreds of small record companies in the US pouring out rock'n'roll and rhythm and blues records. America carried on with rock'n'roll, getting ever limper with an array of Bobbies and Frankies watering it down, but the Jive Five, the Elegants, the Capris, Dion etc were still flying the flag. That was the end of the era of American rock'n'roll as 50s teenagers knew i. ver the years most of the bigger independent American companies such as Atlantic and Chess have been swallowed up by majors
Another high-class mixture of all sorts of rock & roll from the music's first decade, blending not just styles but varying levels of familiarity. You got some pretty well-known classics here, like Little Willie John's "Fever," Dion & the Belmonts' "I Wonder Why," Shep and the Limelites' "Daddy's Home," Jimmy Soul's "If You Wanna Be Happy," and Charlie Rich's "Lonely Weekends. Each successive release brings special responsibilities in terms of product refinement and we believe that Volume 9 maintains the high standard we have set for ourselves. The compilation of US Hot 100 entries from the years 1955 - 1963, contains the usual varied mix of major and minor hits including quite a few which were not originally released in the UK at the time. There is a strong 'feelgood' factor to it - check out the track listing on the previous page - while the vividly illustrated 28 page booklet containing the stories behind the hits, surpasses even our own expectations.
