Alter Ego is the fourth studio album by American recording artist Tyrese. It was released on December 12, 2006 through J Records. In its initial release, the album was formatted as a double album, intending to market Tyrese's contrasting facets of artistry. The first disc contains slow and midtempo pop and R&B songs, while the second, Black-Ty (named after his on-stage rapper alter ego), focuses on hip hop and uptempo beats

Whether you've been a fan of Tyrese the VJ, Tyrese the model, Tyrese the actor, Tyrese the singer, or any combination thereof, one glance at the two-disc Alter Ego is likely to provoke a question or two. On the front of the package, a stone-faced Tyrese is "Tyrese (aka Black-Ty)," and this is meant to indicate that disc one offers more of Tyrese's sensitive (if swaggering) R&B. On the back of the package, a stone-faced Tyrese puts on a pair of sunglasses and transforms into (dun-dun-dun) "Black-Ty (aka Tyrese).

Alter Ego is a double album by Tyrese. Disc 1 features only R&B, while disc 2 features only hip hop. The rapping is by Tyrese under his alter ego Black-Ty. Guest features include: The Game, Method Man, Snoop Dogg, Lil Scrappy, Kurupt, Too Short, R. Kelly, Lil Jon and Mannie Fresh. The first single is One and the second single is Turn Ya Out which is produced by and features Lil Jon. The album was released in stores on December 12, 2006. The album debuted at on the Billboard 200 with 116,000 copies sold in its first week.
