The Wounded Knee Massacre (also called the Battle of Wounded Knee) was a domestic massacre of several hundred Lakota Indians, mostly women and children, by soldiers of the United States Army. It occurred on December 29, 1890, near Wounded Knee Creek (Lakota: Čhaŋkpé Ópi Wakpála) on the Lakota Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in the . state of South Dakota, following a botched attempt to disarm the Lakota camp.

Free Throw - Lavender Town. this album was absolutely amazing, the first track, Slam With The Best Or Jam Like The Rest, is a super energetic song that had me singing along at the show, this band is also amazing live so if you get the chance to see them definitely do it.

The Wounded Knee Massacre occurred on December 29, 1890, near Wounded. I remember the movie, "Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee". Marlon Brando the actor was in it and he got in big trouble for a statement about how negatively minorities were portrayed in movies, including the Native Indians. I wonder if he was forgiven for his statement since the financially connected film industry took offense.
At Wounded Knee one soldier was given a medal of honor and his citation read "conspicuous bravery in rounding up and bringing to the skirmish line a stampeded pack mule. The AIM members took over the town of Wounded Knee (chosen because of its significance in the aforementioned Wounded Knee massacre) as a show of force, and to bring light to their cause that the United Sates government had failed to fulfill their end of the bargain in a multitude of treaties, and the poor & corrupt conditions of the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. The town was controlled for 71 days. Several shootouts ensued between AIM and government officials, but both sides officially agreed to disarm. Ooooh, I assumed it was an album cover for an old band called Wounded Knee.
