Exclusively for Prime members. Yes this deserves better packaging in the form of heavier cardboard, but CDs are ultimately about music and the music on "Dawg and T" is stellar. Well recorded for a live cd, the playing is as spectacular as one would expect from these great musicians. One gets the impression there was little rehearsal for this one-off gig and it shows in the occasional flub, usually by Tony (Grisman is so intuitive in his improvisation, he seems incapable of playing a wrong note). Yet the improvisation is so inspired here and the music so engaging, one forgives them.

Acoustics was released in 1979, some two years after Tony Rice's involvement with the David Grisman Quintet's debut album. Like the Grisman recording, Acoustics proved to be a groundbreaking album for progressive bluegrass musicians. On this album Rice expands the role of the guitar, building each lead faultlessly through intricate succession. Acoustics gives notice that acoustic musicians, like jazz musicians, possess the skills required to create spontaneous and vital music Dawg and T: Live at Acoustic Stage (2-CD).
