1990s could be the toughest, meanest, most insane band in the UK. The indie trio hail from Glasgow, which does, after all, have a reputation for being a city of hard men. This would certainly explain why their contemporaries and critics have been queuing up to heap praise on a band that does little to justify such excitement on the evidence of this debut album alone. Formed from the ashes of The Yummy Fur, 1990s set themselves up for a kicking straight away with that awful name.

Remember that amazing party you went to when all your best mates turned up, the DJs sounded like they were pulling tunes out of your prized private collect. Glasgow trio provide the soundtrack to the best party ever. Remember that amazing party you went to when all your best mates turned up, the DJs sounded like they were pulling tunes out of your prized private collection of trashy American proto-punk from the ’70s and the narcotics were supplied in more varieties than one of Keith Richards’ old riders?
