The press blurb mentions The Move and The Modern Lovers, and how echoes of John Cale’s early solo work and Lou Reed’s ‘Transformer’ pervade the overall sound of the album.

The Sexual Objects ‎– Cucumber. Genre: Rock, Pop. Style: Year: 2010. I don't care if it's just a compilation of singles (and two new numbers), it's the best album of 2010, as far as I'm concerned. All hail the godlike genius of David Henderson! Reply See 2 replies Notify me 1 Helpful.

Oh I say it's the Sexual Objects in session this fine evening - Davy Henderson's latest popular beat combo, released their debut album Cucumber as a vinyl - Lp only earlier this month on Creeping Bent and Aktion und Spass labels. The band are Davy Henderson Lead vocals, lead guitar, Simon Smeton Guitar, backing vocals, Graham Wann Guitar, backing vocals, Douglas Macintyre Bass, backing vocals and Ian Halford Drums, backing vocals. The tracks on Cucumber were recorded in various studios in Scotland and featured several producers; Boards of Canada, Russell Burn (Henderson's old Fire Engines cohort), and John Disco (Bis). The initial idea of the singles was to capture the raw immediacy of early records by the Move and Modern Lovers, however echoes of John Cale's early solo work and Lou Reed's Transformer pervade the overall sound of album.

Object sexuality or objectophilia is a form of paraphilia focused on particular inanimate objects. For some, sexual or even close emotional relationships with humans are incomprehensible

Here come the rubber cops. It encapsulates a whole mood and era that one could never conceivably return to - and listening to the album stirs a yearning for simpler times now sadly beyond reach. Peter Olof Fransson under his "Retep Folo" monicker recorded "Galactic Sounds" with just a Farfisa organ, a 70's Japanese glockenspiel, a 60's East German bass and an Elgam Carousel (a rare preset rhythm box).

Yeah I released a limited 300 copies run of the Peter Parker/ Objects split single, Outta Place Again... think there's an alternate mix of Outta Place again on the b-side to the 7" of Rubber Cops... Cheers!

Absolutley right rexjwb, it was my top album of 2010 too. An absolute faultless blend of Velvet Underground, Television, post punk genius from Mr Henderson. All of the singles were so limited that it might as well be a proper album anyway, it certainly flows like one. What a band.
