Freedom Rider (Remastered). Label: UMC (Universal Music Catalogue). By their third album, Traffic had a reputation as fierce - if indulgent - purveyors of footloose, freestyle acid rock that was often as gentle and folksy as it was funk-fueled and groovy. From the Motown R&B of "Glad" to the countryside troubadouring of "John Barleycorn," Winwood's piano and organ are buoyed by Chris Wood's sax and flute.

Traffic – Freedom Rider Lyrics. from album: John Barleycorn Must Die (1970). Like a hurricane around your heart when earth and sky are torn apart He comes gathering up the bits while hoping that the puzzle fits He leads you, he leads you Freedom rider. With a silver star between his eyes that open up at hidden lies Big man crying with defeat, see people gathering in the street You feel him, you feel him Freedom rider

John Peel narrates between the songs recorded in London. In 1970 Traffic reformed and made a great comeback with the celebrated "John Barleycorn Must Die" released on July 1, 1970 and recorded between February and April 1970.This great show from the BBC Radio One "In Concert" series was played some months before that release but contains all of its tracks and also some selected from their previous records.
