RiotGod was formed in mid 2007 by Bob Pantella with Jim Baglino, both of Monster Magnet, while seeking another outlet for their own musical tendencies during Monster Magnet's downtime. Bob contacted Mark Sunshine for vocals and Garrett Sweeny for guitar. Over the months since, the members have collaborated to produce some of the hardest and best old-school rock on this side of the 90's.

Riotgod's specialty is stoner rock, and like other stoner rock combos, they combine their ‘70s inspirations with a strong appreciation of ‘90s grunge and alternative metal. But unlike so many stoner bands, Riotgod aren't overly obsessed with Black Sabbath. Riotgod have a little Sabbath influence, but as far as the ‘70s go, Led Zeppelin is a much more prominent influence.
