Notes

Made in Czechoslovakia; the copyright year of the sound recording is 1951 (VIII. on label), and the manufacturing date code ("85 1") points to a date of manufacture in early 1985. I'm prepared to accept that 1985 is probably the year of release (I obtained this set second-hand in England in 1990).

Catalogue number is 50 440-3 on spine and (with price code) on verso of box (top L/H beneath Supraphon logo), and 50440 3 on booklet cover. Records are labelled SUA ST 50440, 50441, 50442 and 50443. LPs are auto sequenced.

32-page booklet with libretto, notes and black and white images, including music examples. French, English and German translations are supplied for Kvapil's libretto and the note by Ludmila Vrkočová. The translations are © 1963. There is some variation in characters' names between booklet and labels, e.g. Kvapil's "Vodník" and "lesní žínky" are "The Watersprite" and "Dryads" in the booklet and "The Watergnome" and "Woodsprites" on the labels.
