Talk about Jerry Johnson - The Score

This is one sweet reggae album. I wouldn't classify this as dub, but more instrumental reggae. Jerry Johnson is playing his saxophone over mostly digital rhythms by Bullwackie and Sugar Minott, supplemented with horns, guitar, piano and synths. You'll find some songs that are often interpreted by reggae-instrumentalists like Red Red Wine and La La Means I Love you, but don't be put off by that. Jerry's saxophone-playing here is very good. He showcases his flawless, smooth style and he makes those digital rhythms come to life. This is album is showing that Jerry Johnson is right up there with the great saxophone players in reggae, Dean Fraser, Cedric IM Brooks and Tommy McCook! Although this is a pretty mellow album, I find myself spinning it very regularly, and always enjoying it. Highly recommended for fans of sweet reggae music, lovers rock and instrumental reggae
