The Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler (LSSAH) was founded in September 1933 as Adolf Hitler's personal bodyguard formation. It was given the title Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler (LAH) in November, 1933. In 1939 the LSSAH became a separate unit of the Waffen-SS aside the SS-TV and the SS-VT.

The Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler barracks in Berlin, 1938. The LSSAH provided the honor guard at many of the Nuremberg Rallies, and in 1935 took part in the reoccupation of the Saarland. On 6 June 1935, the LSSAH officially adopted a field-grey uniform to identify itself more with the army, which wore a similar uniform. The LSSAH was later in the vanguard of the march into Austria as part. During the initial stages of the invasion of Poland, the LSSAH was attached to the 1. nfanterie-Division and tasked with providing flank protection for the southern pincer. The regiment was involved in several battles against Polish cavalry brigades attempting to hit the flanks of the German advance.

In 1944 he was trasnferred to the 12th SS Panzer Division Hitlerjugend and was assigned to . ompanie SS Panzer Regiment 12. He was wounded four times, once inRussia, twice in the Ardennes and also in Laaben (Austria) 1945. He finally was captured in April 1945 in a hospital in en, he was prisioner of war in Camp Garmisch-Auerbach. Many of the Hitlerjugend´s NCOs and officers came from the 1st SS Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler Division, forming a tough backbone in the new formed 12th SS Panzer Division Hitlerjugend.
