Complete your Stokowski Conducts Sibelius, The National Philharmonic Orchestra collection. Symphony No. 1 In E Minor, Op. 39. I - Andante Ma Non Troppo; Allegro Energico.

Sibelius: The Complete Symphonies, tone poems. On another musical plateau altogether is the appended Chamber Symphony No. 1 of Arnold Schoenberg, composed in 1906. It often hints of unabashed atonality, and at least to these ears, is not as immediately appealing. FWIW, I'm a fan of Schoenberg's comparatively popular Verklärte Nacht. However, it can reward committed listening when heard in isolation and with an intellectual bent toward its purposely revolutionary means of musical expression.

Symphony No. 2 in D Major, Op. 43. Jean Sibelius. Japan Philharmonic Orchestra. 3. The Swan of Tuonela, Op. 22/3. Track Listing - Disc 2. Title/Composer.

Really exciting performance of Symphony no 1, classic Stokowski. Unfortunately quad sound does not make for good sounding stereo, at least not here. Stereo is unnaturally wide, and the tone balance is definitely on the tizzy side of neutral. Great stuff nonetheless.
