Frank Black is the first solo album from the American alternative rock musician Frank Black. The album was recorded in 1992 and released on 9 March 1993 via 4AD, after the breakup of the Pixies. The album was similar in style, both musically and lyrically, to the Pixies' last album Trompe le Monde. Frank Black was characterized by a focus on UFOs and science fiction. Two singles from the album-"Los Angeles" and "Hang on to Your Ego"-were released in 1993.

Fast Man Raider Man sees Frank Black teaming up with producer Jon Tiven, and all of the tracks were recorded over a two-year period at studios in Nashville and Los Angeles. Recorded in the same casual manner as 2005's Honeycomb, in various hit-and-run sessions with superstar session musicians during gaps in the Pixies' unending reunion tour, Fast Man Raider Man abides by the this-will-do aesthetic that has been a hallmark of Frank Black's solo career.

Frank Black : Fastman Raiderman. Here’s testament to the power of Frank Black, and particularly his original band, the Pixies. First of all, consider how fresh the Pixies still sound to this day, and how their reunion concerts are selling out every venue. There is something timeless about the Pixies, and yet, take a baby that was born when the Pixies first started recording, and they’d be twenty years old today. Hell, take one that was born when they broke up and you’d still have a fifteen year-old on your hands! And here we are at Frank Black Mark III (or IV if you’re particularly picky). Honeycomb marked a new era for Black, nee.

Fast Man Raider Man by Frank Black. The sticker on the front trumpets Frank Black's 12th album as "his most ambitious", by which it simply means his longest. None of these 27 songs can touch the power and vision of Black's work with the Pixies. It's as if he used up a lifetime's ideas in one astounding five-year flurry and has been pleasing himself ever since. Fast Man Raider Man, a spiritual sequel to 2004's Nashville-based Honeycomb, is the work of a middle-aged man with little to prove: amiable, assured, seldom surprising.
